A Pig's Tale: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
