A individual indicted with pursuing Kate McCann apparently left her a phone message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

On Monday, the court was told phone records and evidence obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and is still open.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another phone message, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the recording stated.

The panel was advised that via electronic messages, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who collated the data, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with family friends of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On that date, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I won't give up and I will prove my position."

Court proceedings
Kate and Gerry McCann testified to the court from using a protective barrier on Wednesday

The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a trip to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in last December.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated through communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the period preceding the appearance to Rothley, the county, in December 2024.

The court heard message exchanges between the two defendants, in November 2024, discussing attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a dining venue.

"We must make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their residence, the defendant sent a communication which expressed: "We find ourselves sitting near the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to detectives. I had hoped to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The trial continues.
