Hooker Gregor Hiddleston and back-rower Darge both crossed to reduce the deficit. Further second-half scores from captain Kyle Steyn and centurion Stafford McDowall pushed Glasgow's lead to 26-14. A late try for the hosts set up a nervous finish, but Glasgow stood strong to claim a major opening win. Warriors Take Control After Interval The match started with a quick try as Sale captain Ernst van Rhyn scored from close range after just two minutes. An early injury to centre Rekeiti Ma'asi-White introduced teenager Davies into the action for his cup debut. The youngster made an immediate impact. Moving to fly-half, he ran a smart angle to collect an pass and score, making Sale's advantage. Facing challenging weather, the Warriors used their forward power to get back into the contest. A powerful line-out drive was touched down by front-rower Gregor Hiddleston. Just before the break, Darge barged over, with Hastings' kick making it a narrow deficit at the interval. The Scottish club seized the lead for the first occasion early in the second half. A poor box-kick was gathered by No. 8 Jack Dempsey, who fed skipper Steyn to burst through a tackle and sprint to the try-line. With in the driving seat, they secured the fourth try when McDowall ran through a defender to celebrate his century for the team. This try capped a run of 26 consecutive points. The hosts gave themselves a lifeline when Marius Louw showed good footwork to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with minutes left. One last chance arose for them from a line-out in the corner, but they lost the possession, sealing Glasgow's triumph. What's Next? Sale must regroup ahead of a journey to face Clermont Auvergne next Saturday. In contrast, Glasgow Warriors will host six-time winners Toulouse to Scotstoun.
