Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing chaos and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by having a different backdrop and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
