More than 36,000 civilians have fled Sudan's Kordofan region eastern part of Darfur since Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The important central zone connecting the country's Darfur provinces and the Khartoum-Riverine area has over recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary forces.

Significant Evacuation Statistics

An approximated 36,825 people escaped five localities in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The people, mainly traveling by foot, headed to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently accommodating over 652,000 refugees.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a substantial rise in both RSF and army concentration across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a key logistics and command hub that connects Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have converged on the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently distributed video declaration.

Regional Inhabitants Report Protection Issues

A resident of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the number of RSF vehicles had grown significantly since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, concerned about fighting," the local stated.

Another inhabitant, who asked to remain unnamed for security reasons, also confirmed that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

World Concerns and Requests

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "widespread abuses" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The official cautioned about patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been charged with mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The church leader on Sunday urged an quick cessation of hostilities and the establishment of aid passageways in Sudan, stating that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The ambassador further encouraged the international community to designate the group as a terrorist organisation.
