The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
